Jeremy Baum has been putting out his own comics and art books for the past 10 years.
Not only am I captivated by his art style, I love his DIY spirit. His art isn't in a realist vein, but it is consistent and uniquely his own. You can see in his comics his years of practice.
I HIGHLY recommend seeking out his comics. I won't claim to understand everything that goes on in them, but I can't stop reading them non the less.
If Crumb, Cebollero and Pettibon taught an art class, Jeremy Baum would be the star student!
